Shokhrukhkhon Khalimkhonov has been chosen to represent Uzbekistan in the Children’s contest at Slavianski Bazaar 2020.
Uzbekistan will be represented by Shokhrukhkhon Khalimkhonov in the children’s contest at Slavianski Bazaar 2020. For the first time Uzbekistan held a national selection process to determine the nations representative for the competition.
Following auditions and workshops across Uzbekistan a total of eighteen young singers were selected to compete in the final. The final in Tashkent saw Shokhrukhkhon Khalimkhonov selected by a jury of music professionals to represent Uzbekistan in the competition.
What is Slavianski Bazaar?
Slavianski Bazaar has been held in Vitebsk, Belarus annually since 1992. The event is a showcase of music, dance and culture from nations across the world. As part of Slavianski Bazaar there are two competitive singing competitions, the Children’s Contest and the International Pop Song Performers Contest.
The International Pop Song Performers Contest has been held since 1992 and launched a number of careers. Previous winners include Ruslana (1996), Željko Joksimović (1999), Toše Proeski (2000), Donny Montell (2008) and Dimash Kudaibergen (2015). The contest sees acts performing a Slavic song and a world hit, a ten person jury awards between 0-10 points for each performance.
The Children’s Contest was first held in 2003 and has been a launching point for a number of young performers. Singers who have taken part in the contest have gone on to represent their country at Junior Eurovision include; Ksenia Sitnik, Andrey Kunets, Luara Hayrapetyan, Anastasiya Baginska.
