The sixth edition of the ABU TV Song Festival is to be held on October 25th in the city of Chengdu in the People’s Republic of China.
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union has confirmed that the sixth edition of the ABU TV Song Festival will be held in Chengdu, China on October 25. For the first time ever the TV Song Festival will be heading to China and the city of Chengdu in Sichuan province. Chengdu is home to over 14 million people and is the fifth largest city in China. The venue for the festival has not yet been confirmed.
The ABU are yet to formally open the period within which countries can apply to participate in the festival. In 2016 countries had until mid-April to submit the required paperwork to take part in the event in Bali, Indonesia. Countries must be represented by top class solo or group performers. The rules of the event state that the performers should reflect their country’s culture and should be performed in the national language of their country.
The festival is open to up to 15 countries to participate in the event. The largest festival to date occurred in 2013 when a record 15 countries took to the stage in Hanoi, Vietnma. In past years the following countries have taken part:

The date and the location of the ABU Radio Song Festival 2017 are yet to be announced. The event was due to be held in Thailand, but has been moved due to the death of the late Thai King.
