The S1 Studio at Sichuan Radio and Television has been announced as the venue for the ABU TV Song Festival 2017.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union has announced that the S1 Studio at Sichuan Radio and Television will be the venue for this years ABU TV Song Festival. A total of 15 performers will take to the stage in Chengdu, including two performances from the host nation of China.

Only once before in the history of the event has a host nation performed twice during the TV Song Festival. In 2013 Vietnam was represented by Văn Mai Hương and Ngũ Cung, the inclusion of the two performances from Vietnam pushed the number of performances to sixteen.

Last year a total of 12 countries took to the stage of the ABU TV Song Festival in Bali, Indonesia. This included the debuting nation of Tunisia, while China and Sri Lanka made their return to the contest having last participated in 2015 and 2014 respectively.

The festival is open to up to 15 countries to participate in the event. The largest festival to date occurred in 2013 when a record 15 countries took to the stage in Hanoi, Vietnam. In past years the following countries have taken part:

  • Singapore – (2012 to 2013)
  • South Korea – (2012 to date)
  • Sri Lanka – (2012 to 2013, 2016)
  • Thailand – (2013 to 2014)
  • Tunisia – (2016)
  • Turkey – (2014 to 2015)
  • Vietnam – (2012 to date)

The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union has also yet to reveal anymore information about the delayed ABU Radio Song Festival 2017. The event was due to take place in April but has been taken away from Thailand following the death of their King last year.
