Africa Song looks unlikely to take place

Africa Song the international song contest for the African continent has hit another obstacle on the way to its first contest.

Eurovoix-World.com first reported on the contest in July 2015 when we exclusively revealed that 9 countries had signed up to compete in the contest. These 9 countries were; Benin, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Madagascar, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Zambia. The contest now is looking increasingly unlikely to happen as the organisers have informed us that they have struggled to secure funding for the event.

Africa Song organisers had contacted the European Broadcasting Union for assistance with getting the contest off of the ground however the EBU did not respond to any requests. It looks increasingly likely that Africa Song will join a list of failed attempts at Eurovision spin offs including “Our Sound: The Asia-Pacific Song Contest”.
