Eneda Tarifa has been selected to represent Albania at the Turkvision Song Contest 2018 in Turkey, becoming the first Eurovision participant to take to the stage of its Turkic counterpart.
Eneda Tarifa who represented Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden, has today been revealed as the nations representative at the Turkvision Song Contest. The 36 year old singer is the first Eurovision participant to be selected to take part in the Turkic version of the contest.
The singer is known not only for her musical performances but also a television shot. Since 2018 she has been a judge on The Voice Kids Albania and continues to perform across Albania. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 she performed the song “Fairytale”, but failed to make it out of the semi-finals.
Eneda will be only the third singer to have represented Albania since their debut in the competition in 2014. Visar Rexhepi represented Albania at the 2015 Turkvizyon Song Contest alongside Xhoana Bejko. The duet performed “Adi Hasret” on stage in Istanbul and brought Albania their best result in the contest to date, finishing 8th with 154 points.
The Turkvision Song Contest was last held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2015. The contest was then cancelled in 2016 due to issues securing a suitable host city for the contest, following security issues in Turkey. In 2017 the contest was due to return to the stage, hosted in Kazakhstan in Astana as part of EXPO 2017. However the contest was later cancelled due to a legal challenge.
