What is the Intervision Song Contest?
The Intervision Song Contest was first held in 1977 in Sopot, Poland and was the Soviet rival to the Eurovision Song Contest. The contest was held every year until 1980 when due to strikes in Gdansk, Poland and the fall of communism in Poland the contest was abandoned. In 2008 the contest was brought back, the show moved from Poland to Sochi, Russia with a total of 11 countries participating in the four day show, Turkmenistan won the contest. The 2009 contest was abandoned due to staging issues, in 2014 it was once again announced as taking place.

The contest has been announced as being held in Sochi, Russia the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
When is the event?
The contest is currently being announced as taking place in the autumn of 2015, however the contest has been delayed twice already – More details here.
