Bashkortostan will be returning to the Turkvision Song Contest in 2016, as Ziliya Bakhtieva confirms she will represent the region.
The Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia is to participate in the 4th edition of the Turkvision Song Contest. Ziliya Bakhtieva has confirmed to Eurovoix World that she will be representing the region at this years contest in Turkey. Ziliya revealed that she is currently working on a new song for the contest and will not perform the song that won her last years Bashkir selection.
Ziliyaâ€™s won last yearsÂ selection process in Ufa, Bashkortostan. She had been selected as part of the group â€œAl-Salamâ€ to represent Bashkortostan in Istanbul. Bashkortostan along with a number of Russian regions was forced to withdraw from last years contest, due to a deterioration in relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey.

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
