Ethno Group Zaman have released their latest single “Pulsom Dikikh Ptits” (Pulse of Wild Birds), alongside an official music video.
Zaman who represented Bashkortostan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan have released their latest single. “Pulsom Dikikh Ptits” brings together the bands unique sound and style into an intriguing song. Since their participation in the Turkvision Song Contest the group has undergone changes with Alfia Nigmatullina leaving her role as leader singer.
The group was formed in 2013 with the main purpose of the group’s music is to preserve national Bashkir traditions and to showcase the culture of the nation. They first met in Moscow and have since gone on to travel the world showcasing Bashkir music. In 2015 they finished in second place at SUNS Europe, a song contest for minority languages in Europe.
Bashkortostan will be represented by Zilija Bakhtieva at this years Turkvision Song Contest in Astana, Kazakhstan. Zilija won the regions 2015 selection process in Ufa, Bashkortostan. She had been selected as part of the group “Al-Salam” to represent Bashkortostan in Istanbul. Bashkortostan along with a number of Russian regions was forced to withdraw from the 2015 contest, due to a deterioration in relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey. She will be singing the song “Donya Mathur” for Bashkortostan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2017. The song’s title translates as “The World is Beautiful”

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
