The title of the song that will represent Bashkortostan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2016 has been revealed as “Donya Mathur”.
Zilija Bakhtieva has revealed to Eurovoix World that she will be singing the song “Donya Mathur” for Bashkortostan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2016. The song’s title translates as “The World is Beautiful”, the singer has not revealed anymore details of the song.
Zilijaâ€™s won last yearsÂ selection process in Ufa, Bashkortostan. She had been selected as part of the group â€œAl-Salamâ€ to represent Bashkortostan in Istanbul. Bashkortostan along with a number of Russian regions was forced to withdraw from last years contest, due to a deterioration in relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey.
Bashkortostan was one of the 24 countries and regions who participated in the first Turkvision Song Contest in 2013. At the first contest they were represented byÂ Diana Ishniyazova with the song “Kuray ÅžarkÄ±sÄ±”, she failed to make the final. In 2014 the region selected Zaman to represent them in Kazan, Tatarstan. Zaman performed the song “Kubair” qualifying from theÂ semi final and then finishing 3rd in the final with a total of 199 points.

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
