Svetlana Agarval has given her first interview since being announced as Belarus’ participant in the Turkvizyon Song Contest 2016.
Svetlana Agarval appeared this morning on CTV in Minsk, Belarus to talk about her upcoming participation in the Turkvizyon Song Contest 2016. In the interview Svetlana confirmed that she had been selected to represent Belarus, after performing for Gunesh Abbasova the countries participant in the 2013 contest.
She stated in the interview that she is currently learning how to speak Turkish. She said that for the contest she needs to be able to properly understand the language, to be able to feel it and understand the emotions. Svetlana added that she was very proud to be representing Belarus, against what is reported to be around 50 countries and regions in this years contest.
Svetlana who was born in Belarus is well-known for her performances of Indian songs and has fallen in love with performing in Hindi since she was a small child. Svetlana is well-known to Belarussian audiences having participated in Slavianski Bazaar in 2011 and the Eastern Bazaar in Yalta, Crimea in 2012. In the interview with CTV today she confirmed she had been invited to perform and participate in two television shows in India.

The Turkvizyon Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
