Kristian Kostov who represented Bulgaria at New Wave Junior 2012 will be representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
Bulgaria has today announced that Kristian Kostov will be representing them at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The 16-year-old singer is the first singer born after January 1st, 2000 to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest and is turning seventeen in just two days time.
Before rising to fame in the Voice Kids, Kristian represented Bulgaria at New Wave Junior 2012. At the contest he also performed alongside Alisa Kozhkina who represented Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014. At the end of two days of performances, he finished 9th with a total of 163 points, 13 points behind the winner from Russia.
In 2014 he was one of the finalists of The Voice Kids, where he reached the final, he was coached by Dima Bilan in the contest. He will be performing “Beautiful Mess” for Bulgaria. This was the launching point for his career and brought him success in his home country.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Kristian will be performing the song “Beautiful Mess”. The song has been written and composed by has been composed by Borislav Milanov, Sebastian Armann, Joacim Bo Persson, Alex Omar and Alexander Blay. The team that has written the song was involved in the writing “If Love Was A Crime” last years entry for Stockholm.

New Wave Junior was held for the first time in 2008 and is the children’s version of New Wave. The competition is open to singers under the age of 12 years. Over 30 countries have participated in the contest since it was first held with Ukraine the most successful country in the contest to date. Former winners include Eurovision winners, Gaia Cauchi, Sofia Tarasova and Anastasiya Petryk.
