ABU Radio Song Festival – More details here.

The ABU Radio Song Festival is a contest which takes place every 2 years in the Asian Broadcasting Union region. The contest began back in 2012 and has now been held three times, the 2015 festival is being held in Beijing, China . The event aims to showcase to listeners unknown and upcoming artists from across the region. The ABU Radio Song Festival is non-competitive.

ABU TV Song Festival – More details here.

The ABU TV Song Festival is an annual event that started in 2012. It is a gala event meaning that it is not competitive unlike the radio contest. The event coincides with the ABU Annual Meetings, and sees famous artists from the delegations perform their hits. The 2014 contest is being held in Istanbul, Turkey.

All For One Caribbean – More details here

All For One Caribbean is an annual event first held in 2013 between the nations of the Caribbean. The contest is held in Martinique with singers being selected to represent their respective country, each performs two songs with the winner being selected by a jury.

Bala Türkvizyon Song Contest – More details here.

Bala Türkvizyon Song Contest is an annual event held between Turkic nations launched in 2015. Bala Türkvizyon is the children’s alternative to the Türkvizyon Song Contest which launched in 2013. Participants are aged between 8 and 15.

Bundesvision – More details here.

Bundesvision is an annual contest between the Federal States of Germany. The contest was founded back in 2005, on the same premise at the Eurovision Song Contest. The event is aimed at a younger audience of teenagers and 20-30 year olds. The entrants that represent each of the 16 states are selected by local radio stations. The 2014 contest was won by Bremen.

The Intervision Song Contest began in 1977 and ran until 1980, it was once again brought back in 2008, and this year the contest is being revived. The contest is set to take place in Sochi, Russia with the competition bringing together Russia, Central Asia and China.

Liet International – More details here.

Liet International is an annual contest held for languages that are deemed as under threat in Europe. The rules are simple that English is banned from the contest, the winner of Liet International is decided by jurys from each of the participating regions.

MGP – Finland – More details here.

MGP is an annual contest held by Svenska YLE since 2007. MGP up until 2009 was used as the Finnish selection process for MGP Nordic, however it is now a domestic contest for Swedish speaking children in Finland. Every year there are between 70-90 songs submitted into the contest.

MGP.jr – Norway – More details here.

MGp.jr is an annual contest held in Norway for kids aged between 8 and 15 years old. The contest sees annually around 500 songs into the contest, with the final being held at the Oslo Spektrum. The show which is televised and includes a public vote, is one of the biggest children s TV shows in Norway.

MGP Junior – Denmark – More details here.

MGP Junior is an annual contest in Denmark for kids aged between 13 and 16 years old. The contest sees kids from every municipality in Denmark compete in a televised show, the week after Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.

Pan Celtic Song Contest – More details here.

The Pan Celtic Song Contest is an annual competition held between the six Celtic nations of Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland, Isle of Mann, Scotland and Wales. The event is held as part of the Pan Celtic Festival which is organised by the Pan Celtic organisation.

Türkvizyon Song Contest – More details here.

Türkvizyon is a contest created by TMB of Turkey in 2013. The contests seeing countries and regions in Europe and Asia competing in a contest that celebrates Turkic culture. Unlike in the Eurovision Song Contest the songs are not limited to 3 minutes, this means that you end up with varying lengths of songs. In 2013 however unlike Eurovision the winner was decided by a jury not a televote.

Viña del Mar International Song Festival – More details here.

The Viña del Mar International Song Festival is an annual music festival held in Viña del Mar, Chile. The show features performances from invited artists, as well as two competitive contests the Folk Contest and the International Contest. The show has taken place every year since 1960.
