Valentin Ormanzhi who represented Gagauzia at the Turkvision Song Contest 2015 has released his latest song “Bobacim”.

Valentin Ormanzhi the only male singer to date to have represented Gagauzia at the Turkvision Song Contest has released his latest song. “Bobacim” was released earlier this week having been performed for the first time on GRT, the Gagauz national broadcaster. Valentin is one of the most well known names in Gagauz music having had a number of top 10 songs in the region.

At the 2015 Turkvision Song Contest, Valentin Ormanzhi performed “Sev Beni Sev”, he became the first Gagauz singer to perform in a Turkvision final. He ended the night by finishing in 10th place with a total of 154 points, the best result to date for Gagauzia in the contest.

Yulia Arnaut will be representing Gagauzia at the Turkvision Song Contest 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. She will be performing the song “Kemençä” on stage at the contest in the Kazakh capital. The singer announced the title of her song at the end of December 2016. The lyrics were written by Todur Zanet while the music was composed by Ilya Filev.

Yulia was selected to represent Gagauzia at the Turkvision Song Contest at the end of October 2016. She beat off competition from eleven other artists in the final of Can Dalgasinda in Comrat. The selection was open to singers aged between 18 and 35 years old and saw the participants performing in the Gagauz language.

Gagauzia was one of the 24 original countries and regions to participate in the first Turkvision Song Contest in 2013. In the first two years that Gagauzia participated in the contest they failed to make it out of the semi finals. To date the region has participated in every contest, with their best result coming in 2015. At the 2015 contest in Istanbul, Gagauzia made the final for the first time with the singer Valentin Ormanzhi. Valentin performed “Sev beni sev” and finished 10th with a total of 154 points.
