Yulia Arnaut who will take part in the Turkvision Song Contest 2018, has received an award for taking part in the Ot Yry festival in Khakassia, Russia.
Gagauzia’s Yulia Aranut received the Diploma of the laureate of the III degree at the Ot Yry festival which was held in Abakan, Khakassia. A total of 14 countries and regions of Russia took part in show; Gagauzia (Moldova), Azerbaijan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Crimea, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Sakha (Yakutia), Altai, Tuva, Stavropol Krai and Khakassia.
At the competition Yulia performed three songs. He entries included “Kemençä” which is her entry for the Turkvision Song Contest. The lyrics were written by Todur Zanet while the music was composed by Ilya Filev. The song was written at the end of 2016 specifically for the Turkvision Song Contest.
The festival was created by German Tanbaev who is responsible for Khakassia’s participation in the Turkvision Song Contest. Other individuals associated with the Turkvision Song Contest who also attended the contest were; Petr Petkovic (Gagauz Head of Delegation), Artur Marlouzhov (Represented Altai Republic at the Turkvision Song Contest 2013) and Ismet Zaatov (Project Director of Turkvision)
Yulia was selected to represent Gagauzia at the Turkvision Song Contest in 2016. She beat off competition from eleven other artists in the final of Can Dalgasinda in Comrat. The selection was open to singers aged between 18 and 35 years old and saw the participants performing in the Gagauz language.

Gagauzia was one of the 24 original countries and regions to participate in the first Turkvision Song Contest in 2013. In the first two years that Gagauzia participated in the contest they failed to make it out of the semi finals. To date the region has participated in every contest, with their best result coming in 2015. At the 2015 contest in Istanbul, Gagauzia made the final for the first time with the singer Valentin Ormanzhi. Valentin performed “Sev beni sev” and finished 10th with a total of 154 points.
