Yulia Arnaut has been selected to represent the region of Gagauzia at the Turkvizyon Song Contest 2016 this December in Turkey.
Yulia Arnaut will be representing Gagauzia at the 4th edition of the Turkvizyon Song Contest this December in Turkey. The singer won Can Dalgasinda last night in the Gagauz Capital, Comrat. The singer beat off competition from elevenÂ other singers aged between 18 and 35 to win the right to represent the region at Turkvizyon.

- Ivan Babov

Yulia will now spend the next month and a half working on the song that she will perform at Turkvizyon 2016. The song will be written specifically for the contest and will not be the song she performed in the final last night in Comrat.
Gagauzia was one of the 24 original countries and regions to participate in the first Turkvizyon Song Contest in 2013. To date the region has participated in every contest, with their best result coming in 2015. At the 2015 contest in Istanbul, Gagauzia made the final for the first time with the singer Valentin Ormanzhi. Valentin performed “Sev beni sev” and finished 10th with a total of 154 points.

The Turkvizyon Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
