Georgia has selected their participants for Slavianski Bazaar 2019 in Belarus, with a national selection in Tbilisi.
Georgia has selected both their entrants for the Children’s contest and the International Pop Song Performers contest at Slavianski Bazaar 2019. A national selection was held at the start of March in the Georgian Capital, Tbilisi.
In the Children’s contest it was Anna Daseni who is eight years old will be representing Georgia. While in the adult contest a total of seven singers took part in the selection process. After the seven singers performed, the top two were asked to perform again in which Giorgi Putkaradze was selected.
The jury that selected the Georgian entrants in the competition were as follows:
- Sopho Khalvashi – Represented Georgia at Eurovision 2007
- Manana Sepisahvili – Producer
- Achi Purtseladze – Composer & singer
- Ketevan Manelishvili – Choirmaster & Head of Department of the Ministry of Culture of Adjara
- Medeya Kavtaradze – Head of Creative Arts Studio
- Sesiliya Kemulariya – Designer
What is Slavianski Bazaar?
Slavianski Bazaar has been held annually in Vibetsk, Belarus since 1992. The event consists of two competitive contests, the International Pop Song Performers Contest for singers age 18 to 31, and the Children’s Contest for those age between 7 and 12. The competition is popular in the former Soviet Union, Baltic States and the Balkans. Winners include Ruslana, Zeljko Joksimovic, Donny Montell and Alyona Lanskaya. The Children’s Contest has been held since 2003 and former winners include singers who have gone on to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This includes former winner Ksenia Sitnik who won for Belarus in 2005.
