India is set to host the ABU Radio Song Festival 2019, as New Delhi is announced as the host city for the event.
New Delhi will be the host city for the ABU Radio Song Festival 2019, as the ABU reveals the location of next years event. The Radio Song Festival is travelling to India for the first time, this also marks the first time since 2012 that one nation has hosted two ABU events in the same year.
The show is set to take place on September 4, but the host broadcaster has yet to be formally named. It is expected that All India Radio will be announced as the host broadcaster, with the organisation having participated in every ABU Radio Song Festival since 2012.
The 2018 ABU Radio Song Festival was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The following nations took to the stage;
- Afghanistan – Debut
- Kazakhstan – Debut & Host Nation
- Turkey – Debut
The first festival in 2012 was held as a competitive event, with 13 songs being selected by a jury to compete in the live contest in Seoul, South Korea. A jury made up of fourteen members from nine countries, then voted on the songs. The winner was Billy Acoustie who was representing South Korea with the song “For A Rest”. Since 2014 the festival has been held as a gala event.
