Ahead of this years Turkvizyon Song Contest we will be interviewing a number of the participants. The first of which is Aris Appaev, Aris was selected earlier this month at a national selection to represent Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia at the 3rd Turkvizyon Song Contest.
Firstly thank you for speaking to us, how does it feel to know you will be representing Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia at Turkvizyon 2015?
Firstly I feel responsible and at the same time it excites me.
What was it that made you decide to submit a song into the selection process for Turkvizyon 2015?
I choose this song because when I created this project I mixed different styles and cultures.
How would you describe your style of music and who are your influences?
I can’t describe my music style because I have mixed many styles and elements from different cultures.
Your song is called “Unutma – meni” can you tell us what it is about?
My song is about past love, about human relationships, about memories. It’s called “Don’t forget me”.
What would it mean for you to be the first singer to take Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia in the final of the Turkvizyon Song Contest?
I’ll be happy
In your opinion how important is it for Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia to be taking part in an international song contest like Turkvizyon?
I think it’s a very important for both republics because we have many talented singers. Our karachay-balkaria people have many beautiful melodys and songs. And I want to see our musical culture come to the world level. Thanks to the Elbrusoid fund it became is possible and contribute to the development of our culture as a whole. I want to thank to the President of the Foundation Aliy Totorkulov for its invaluable contribution.
What plans do you have for your performance in Istanbul?
It’s a secret
Finally do you have anything you’d like to say to the readers of Eurovoix-World.com?
