Kazakhstan: Adylkhan Makhambetov Selected in Kokshetau

12-year-old Adylkhan Makhambetov has been selected to represent the region of Akmola after two days of auditions in Kokshetau.

Adylkhan will represent Akmola in the semi finals of Kazakhstan’s 2016 Bala Turkvizyon selection process later this year. The 12-year-old from Shchuchynsk was selected by the jury to represent the region. Adylkhan has been singing since he was four years old, his passion and interest in music has been passed down through his family from his grand parents.

The Bala Turkvizyon Song Contest was first held in 2015. The contest is the children’s version of the Turkvizyon Song Contest. Participants in the contest must be aged between 8 and 15 and perform their song in a Turkic language. The winner of the contest is decided by a jury made up one person representing each competing country. The winner of the first contest were Azerbaijan who were represented by Nuray & Ahmed and the song “Cocukluk Yillari”.
