Gazret Yerzhanov has replaced Dastan Orazbekov as the Kazakh participant at the ABU TV Song Festival 2017 in Chengdu, China.

Singer and actor Gazret Yerzhanov has been announced as the new Kazakh participant in this years ABU TV Song Festival in China. Born in Aktobe, the singers career started off in television before being discovered by the Kazakh movie industry. Having stared in a number of films, including comedies, the actor is now looking to work in the Russian film industry. At the festival in China on November 1, Gazret will perform “Yapurai”.


The ABU TV Song Festival 2017 will take place on November 1 in Chengdu, China.

This years festival sees the debut of Turkmenistan and Zambia, while India and Malaysia make their return to the event having both last participated in 2015.

Since 2012 the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union has organised a non-competitive festival highlighting the talents of its member nations. Countries such as Afghanistan, Brunei, China and the Maldives have participated in the event, showcasing the best of their talented music industry. Songs taking part in the event can be the singers own or a cover. The event is planned to eventually be turned into a competitive contest.
