The Kumyk population of the Russian Federation has confirmed that they will compete in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016.

Kumyk has confirmed that they will be participating in the 2nd edition of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest in Turkey. Qumuqlar the organisation behind Kumyk participation has made a call for songs for both the Turkvision and Bala Turkvision Song Contests. The rules for each selection are as follows;

Bala Turkvision:

  • Song must be between 3 and 4 minutes long
  • Song must be performed by a child aged between 8 and 13 years old
  • The song must be a new composition and not released previously

Turkvision:

  • Song must be between 3 and 4 minutes long
  • The singer or singers must be aged between 18 and 40 years old
  • The song must be a new composition and not released previously

Those interested in representing Kumyk at the Turkvision and Bala Turkvision Song Contests have until November 20th to submit their song to the following email address:

The final of the Kumyk selection for Turkvision and Bala Turkvision will take place on November 26.  The selection is taking place in the Capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala. The selection of the Kumyk participant will take place during “Qumuqfest”. Qumuqfest will see performances from well-known Kumyk performers from Chechnya, North Ossetia, Moscow as well as from across Dagestan.

Of note is the fact that the call for songs states that Ankara will be hosting this years contest. To date Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya have all been mentioned as host cities for this years contest. We are still awaiting confirmation from TMB TV the host broadcaster as to where will be hosting this years contest.
