KRTK the national broadcaster of Kyrgyzstan has confirmed that they will be participating in the Turkvizyon Song Contest 2016 in Turkey.

Kyrgyzstan has confirmed that they will be defending their Turkvizyon title at this years contest in Turkey. At last years contest in Istanbul, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan took home their first victory in the Turkvizyon Song Contest. They were represented by Jideesh Idirisova with the song “Kim Bilet”, she scored a total of 194 points, beating runner-up Kazakhstan by just 9 points.

Kyrgyzstan has participated in the Turkvizyon Song Contest since it was first held in 2013. At the first contest they were represented by the group Çoro with the song “Tooluk Kyz”, the country made it through to the final where they finished 8th with 183 points. In 2014 when the contest was held in Kazan, Tatarstan, Kyrgyzstan finished 4th in the final represented by Non-Stop and the song “Seze bil”, with a total of 196 points, 29 points away from victory.

A total of 20 countries and regions have now confirmed that they will be participating in the 4th Turkvizyon Song Contest this December in Turkey.

The Turkvizyon Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskişehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
