Pelageya Stefoglo the first Moldovan participant in Turkvision, will be performing at Odessa Fashion Week later this month.

Pelageya Stefoglo will be performing at the Odessa Fashion Week at the end of this month. The singer will be performing at the start of the competition for young designers which takes place on March 26. This is not the first time that she has performed at the event in neighbouring Ukraine, having also performed at the event in the autumn of 2016.

Moldova are debuting at the Turkvision Song Contest later this year in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Pelageya will be performing the song “Yallah Yallah!”, which was composed by Oleg Baralyuk, with the lyrics written by Gunesh. Gunesh represented Belarus at the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 where she finished in second place.

Pelageya had taken part in the Gagauz selection process this year but was beaten by Yulia Arnaut. Polina was born on June 4, 1988 and has been performing since a young age. She graduated from music school, piano. Graduate of Russian Theoretical Lyceum Chisinau (Moldova). She took an active part in various festivals such as Star of Moldova and Star of the Chisinau. Pelageya is currently working on her debut album, the song she will be singing at the contest it to be performed in Turkish.

A total of fourteen nations and regions have confirmed that they will be participating in the Turkvision Song Contest 2017. This includes six debuting nations, they are; Latvia, Sweden, Moldova, Stavropol Krai, the Netherlands and Poland. Returning to the contest this year alongside Tatarstan are Crimea and Bashkortostan.

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
