Alessya Duran Selma has been selected to represent Romania at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016 in Turkey.

Romania has selected Alessya Duran Selma to represent them at the second edition of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest. The Romanian selection round was held this afternoon in Constana. In total 7 young artists took part in the selection process all hoping to impress the judges. Alessya was selected after Daniela-Paraschiva Paraschita who was the juries favourite failed to meet all of the rules set out for the competition.

At the 2015 Bala Turkvision Song Contest, Romania was represented by Irem Kayaali with the song “Sihirbaz”. Irem finished 6th in the final with a total of 102 points. The song received the top marks from Albania, Azerbaijan and Belarus.

To date the following countries and regions have selected their participants for Bala Turkvision 2016:

  • Azerbaijan - Aydan Ilxasade
  • Belarus – Ruslana
  • Crimea – Regina Vosik
  • Romania – Alessya Duran Selma
  • Stavropol Krai - Madina Kartakeyva
  • Ukraine - Ljudmila Bazadzhi

The Bala Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2015. The contest is the children’s version of the Turkvision Song Contest. Participants in the contest must be aged between 8 and 15 and perform their song in a Turkic language. The winner of the contest is decided by a jury made up one person representing each competing country. The winner of the first contest were Azerbaijan who were represented by Nuray & Ahmed and the song “Cocukluk Yillari”.
