Romania will select their participant for the Bala Turkvision Song Contest with a national selection being held on November 27.

Romania has confirmed their participation in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016 in Turkey. Romania will be returning to the contests stage having been of the original 13 countries taking part in this first contest in 2015. The country is for the first time holding national selection process for Bala Turkvision having internally selected their entrant in 2015.

The rules for the Romanian selection process are as follows:

  • Song must be modern pop, can have Rock, R’n’B and Hip Hop influences
  • Song must be between 3 and 4 minutes long
  • Song must be performed in Turkish or its related dialects
  • Singer(s) must be aged between 8 or 15 years old

At the 2015 Bala Turkvision Song Contest, Romania was represented by Irem Kayaali with the song “Sihirbaz”. Irem finished 6th in the final with a total of 102 points. The song received the top marks from Albania, Azerbaijan and Belarus.

The Bala Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2015. The contest is the children’s version of the Turkvision Song Contest. Participants in the contest must be aged between 8 and 15 and perform their song in a Turkic language. The winner of the contest is decided by a jury made up one person representing each competing country. The winner of the first contest were Azerbaijan who were represented by Nuray & Ahmed and the song “Cocukluk Yillari”.
