RTV Novi Pazar has confirmed that they have selected Sandzak’s participant in the Turkvision Song Contest 2016 in Turkey.

The Head of RTV Novi Pazar the broadcaster behind Sandzak’s participation in the Turkvision Song Contest has confirmed that they have selected the regions artist for this years contest. Mr Denis Mavric informed Eurovoix World that both the singer and the song for this years contest have been selected, however he did not reveal when the region would reveal their participant.

Sandzak debuted in the Turkvision Song Contest in 2015 alongside Syria. The region of Serbia was represented by Almedin Varosanin, the singer was internally selected to represent the region with the song “Trag”. In the final of Turkvision 2015, Sandzak finished 15th out of 21 countries and regions scoring 140 points. The region also confirmed to Eurovoix World that they are planning in participating in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest for the first time this year.

To date the following countries and regions have selected their participants:

  • Bashkortostan – Zilija Bakhtieva – Donya Mathur
  • Belarus – Svetlana Agarval
  • Crimea – Alseda Seydaliyeva
  • Gagauzia – Yulia Arnaut
  • Germany – Seyran
  • Khakassia – Irenek Khan
  • Latvia – Oksana Bilera – YakiÅŸiyor bize bu sevgi
  • Netherlands – Elcan – Ana vatan
  • Romania – Sunai Giolacai
  • Sweden – Arghavan – DirçaliÅŸ
  • Ukraine – Natalia Papazoglo

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
