It has been confirmed today that Islam Satyrov will be representing Stavropol Krai at the next edition of the Turkvision Song Contest in 2017.
Islam Satyrov will be representing Stavropol Krai on their debut in the Turkvision Song Contest next year in Turkey. Islam will be representing the Nogai ethnic group at next years contest but will be competing under the region of Stavropol Krai. Islam is currently working on producing his first album which is planned to be released in the Spring of 2017, plans are underway for a tour once the album is released.
The talented singer had been selected to represent Stavropol Krai on their debut in the Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. At the time Islam spoke of his pride in representing the Nogai people at the contest, on stage in Istanbul he had planned to be joined by his two brother as he performed the song “Tuvgan erym” (Native Land). Islam was forced to withdraw from the contest following breakdown in the foreign relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey.
The host city and dates of the next edition of the Turkvision Song Contest are yet to be confirmed by the organisers of the contest. We understand that the contest is provisionally scheduled for March but that a final decision has not yet been taken. The 2016 contest has been delayed due to the turmoil in Turkey.

Stavropol Krai was one of two Russian regions planning to participate in the Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. The region participates on behalf of the Nogai ethnic group which numbers around 128,000 of which around 104,000 live within the Russian Federation. Islam Satyrov was selected to represent the region in 2015, however was forced to withdraw due to a break in relations between Russia and Turkey. The region is due to participate in the next edition of the Turkvision Song Contest.
