Shir who is representing a yet unknown country at Turkvision 2016 has submitted a song to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

Shir Charyev will be taking part in the 4th edition of the Turkvision Song Contest, however the country he will represent is currently unknown. Alongside his preparations for the Turkvision Song Contest the singer has submitted a song to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. The song which is titled “Story of my heart” is written by Hans Olov Furberg and Karolina Furberg.

This is not the first time that Shir has attempted to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2015 the singer attempted to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest, however he failed to make it through to the televised selection. Shir has performed alongside Svetlana Agarval who is representing Belarus at this years contest in Turkey as well. Shir Charyev was born in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and currently resides in Minsk, Belarus.

Belarus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and since then has qualified for the final on four occasions. The countries best result to date came in Helsinki, Finland at the 2007 contest. Belarus was represented by Koldun with the song “Work Your Magic”, he finished 6th with a total of 145 points. At the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden Belarus finished 12th in their semi final, missing out on the final four a second year running.
