The Turkvision Song Contest 2017 is to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan according to the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan.

It has been announced today that Kazakhstan will be hosting the Turkvision Song Contest 2017 as part of wider events being held as part of EXPO 2017. The Ministry of Culture and Sports stated that the contest will be held in co-operation with Turksoy and TMB TV who are the organisers of the Turkvision Song Contest. The exact date of the competition has yet to be announced.

Kazakhstan has competed in every Turkvision Song Contest to date and won the contest in 2014 with the singer Zhanar Dugalova. As part of the competition, the Ministry of Culture will invited former winners of the competition to the event, as well as distinguished guest.

The Turkvision Song Contest is an annual song contest held between nations that Turkic heritage or Turkic populations. It was first held in 2013 in Turkey and to date has been held on three ocassions. Winners of the competition so far are; Azerbaijan (2013), Kazakhstan (2014) and Kyrgyzstan (2015). The contest was due to be held in 2016 but was delayed due to events in Turkey.

The press conference today did not make any mention of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest. The Bala Turkvision Song Contest is the children’s version of the Turkvision Song Contest.

TMB TV and TURKSOY are yet to officially confirm these reports.
