Shir Charyev is to participate in the Turkvision Song Contest 2016, however the country he will represent has not been revealed.

Shir will be taking part in the 4th edition of the Turkvision Song Contest, however the country he will represent is currently unknown. The singer who currently resides in Belarus, confirmed via VK that he will be participating in this years contest, but is currently unable to reveal publicly which country he will be representing.

Shir Charyev was born in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and currently resides in Minsk, Belarus. In 2015 the singer attempted to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest, however he failed to make it through to the televised selection. Shir has performed alongside Svetlana Agarval who is representing Belarus at this years contest in Turkey as well.

The Turkvision Song Contest was first held in 2013 in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The contest which is open to Turkic nations and regions such as Turkey, Kazakhstan and Yakutia. The contest follows a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, with songs limited to being 4 minutes long. To date Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have won the contest.
