Dmitry Babak has been selected to represent Ukraine at Slavianski Bazaar 2019 in Vitebsk, Belarus.
The Ukrainian national final for Slavianski Bazaar 2019 was held yesterday, with the nation selecting their participants for the Childrens and International Pop Song Performers Contest. A jury made up of four music professionals selected the participants, on the jury were:
- Vlad Sytnik – Winner of the International Pop Song Performers Contest in 2017
- Vlad Baginskiy
- Oksana Pekin
- Oleg Yakovlevym
Ukraine will be represented by Dmitry Babak in the International Pop Song Performers Contest. Dmitry will be known to Ukrainian audiences for winning season fix of the X Factor Ukraine in 2014.
Artur Galas will be representing Ukraine in the children’s contest. Ukraine are currently the defending winners in this category. Last year Alexander Balabanov won the Children’s Contest for Ukraine, he is the second Ukrainian singer to win the contest.
What is Slavianski Bazaar?
Slavianski Bazaar has been held annually in Vibetsk, Belarus since 1992. The event consists of two competitive contests, the International Pop Song Performers Contest for singers age 18 to 31, and the Children’s Contest for those age between 7 and 12. The competition is popular in the former Soviet Union, Baltic States and the Balkans. Winners include Ruslana, Zeljko Joksimovic, Donny Montell and Alyona Lanskaya. The Children’s Contest has been held since 2003 and former winners include singers who have gone on to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This includes former winner Ksenia Sitnik who won for Belarus in 2005.
