Jennifer King has been selected to represent the United Kingdom at the Children’s Contest of Slavianski Bazaar 2019 in Belarus.
Singer Jennifer King will be representing the United Kingdom in Belarus at Slavianski Bazaar 2019. The singer was selected at a national selection organised in London. The competition saw two rounds, the first saw ten singers perform for the judges, before three were selected for the final round.
On the jury at the selection were:
- Ron Tom — Producer & composer
- David Serero — Actor
- Alexa Pol — Singer, composer & producer
- Evgenia Terentieva — Pianist and composer
- Erika Said — Producer of the festival Arpeggio
- Alfiya Karimova — Lead soloist at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Astana
- Natalia Skopets — Director of the Festival Star Flowers
- Evgenia Shor — Director of the Festival Million Voices
Jennifer King was selected by the jury as the United Kingdom’s representative at the contest in Vitebsk. The singer will be known to some members of the public having previously taken part in the Voice Kids in the United Kingdom. She was knocked out of the competition before the semi-finals round of the show.
What is Slavianski Bazaar?
Slavianski Bazaar has been held annually in Vibetsk, Belarus since 1992. The event consists of two competitive contests, the International Pop Song Performers Contest for singers age 18 to 31, and the Children’s Contest for those age between 7 and 12. The competition is popular in the former Soviet Union, Baltic States and the Balkans. Winners include Ruslana, Zeljko Joksimovic, Donny Montell and Alyona Lanskaya. The Children’s Contest has been held since 2003 and former winners include singers who have gone on to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This includes former winner Ksenia Sitnik who won for Belarus in 2005.
