The Head of Delegation for Yakutia at the Turkvizyon Song Contest has confirmed their debut in Bala Turkvizyon to Eurovoix-World.com.

Yakutia will be competing in the Bala Turkvizyon Song Contest for the first time this year. Yakutia also known as the Sakha Republic debuted in the Turkvizyon Song Contest in 2013 and has gone on to compete in two contests to date. The confirmation of Yakutia’s debut comes one week after the region confirmed their return to the Turkvizyon Song Contest having not competed last year in Turkey.

The Bala Turkvizyon Song Contest was first held in 2015 with a total of 13 countries and regions competing in Istanbul, Turkey. The first contest was won by Nuray Rahman and Ahmed Amirli from Azerbaijan, they performed the song “Cocukluk Yillari” scoring 115 points. Kazakhstan and Georgia rounded out the top three.

Yakutia is the eighth country or region to confirm their participation in the Bala Turkvizyon Song Contest 2013, They are also the third region to confirm their debut in this years contest. The following countries and regions have confirmed their participation to Eurovoix-World.com:

  • Belarus – Ruslana – Song unknown
  • Kazakhstan – Selection underway
  • Stavropol Krai – Madina Kartakeyva – Song unknown
  • Turkey – Host nation
  • Ukraine – Ljudmila Bazadzhi – Song unknown
  • Yakutia – Participant and song unknown

The following countries and regions competed in 2016 but are yet to confirm their participation; Albania, Gagauzia, Georgia, Iran, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan and Macedonia.
