Eurovoix World understands that Sweden has withdrawn from competing in the Turkvision Song Contest 2020.
Sweden will not be among the nations and regions competing in the 4th edition of the Turkvision Song Contest 2020 on December 20. Arghavan who had been due to represent the nation on their debut is no longer featured on the contests official website, having earlier been confirmed as the nations representative.
Eurovoix World understands that the Swedish representative was unable to record a performance to the standard required for the competition. As a result Sweden is no longer able to compete in the contest with the song “Dirçəliş”.
Sweden is the second nation to withdraw from the contest having previously been announced as participating. The Netherlands were due to be represented by Elcan Rzayev but withdrew after the singer was unable to record his performance due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Turkvision 2020 is set to be hosted in Istanbul, Turkey on December 20 and is being held entirely online. To date the following artists have been confirmed as competing in the contest:
