Uniunea Democrată Tătară has confirmed that Romania will be participating in the Turkvision Song Contest 2021 in Kazakhstan.
Romania is the second country/region to confirm that they will be participating in the Turkvision Song Contest 2021 in Turkistan, Kazakhstan. The confirmation comes just hours after it was revealed by TMB TV that this years contest will be held in Kazakhstan for the first time.
Uniunea Democrată Tătară has confirmed that it is planning to organise a selection process to determine the Romanian representative for the contest later this year. They are currently accepting song submissions for songs performed in a Turkic language, the song can feature lyrics in Romania and English. Songs can be sent to udt@udt.ro.
To date the following countries/regions/ethnic groups have confirmed their participation in Turkvision 2021:
- Romania
- Russia – Nogai
In 2020 Romania was represented by Sunai Giolacai with the song “Niye?”, he finished 22nd out of 26 entries scoring a total of 167 points. Romania’s highest points were 9 points from Bashkortostan and the Tyumen Oblast.
